$1.8 Million Online Casino Win May Be Illegal
Filed in archive Casinos on March 15, 2006
It must be so confusing being a law enforcement officer in the US right now when it comes to online gambling. Is it illegal? A State issue? A Federal Issue? No-one seems to know.
But for one man in Michigan, he's hoping they'll soon figure it out - and preferably in his favour. Tim Pollack recently won a $1.8 million jackpot at an online casino and now State officials are looking to see if its illegal - and whether Pollack himself should be sentenced
As is the euphoria in the US right now
Federal and state officials believe online gaming is an extraordinarily dangerous crime and are working to strengthen the laws.
Its so evil and dangerous no-one seems to have a clue where they stand on it. In fact, its so grey everyone is handing the case over to someone else so they don't have to worry about it.
Maybe they should send the Feds over to the Caribbean jurisdiction where its perfectly legal. Or perhaps the State should lock up a guy for playing online and winning.
One thing is for sure. The IRS is claiming its earned income and therefore should be taxed. But then again, if its illegal income, can they tax that? So many pointless questions. So many obvious regulatory answers.
