Its the final 12 in this season's American Idol and as usual its a field day for the bookies - unless you can find the gem in this year's crop of young and not-so-young singers. A somewhat surprising result saw the All-American Ayla bow out last week to prove once again no-one is safe on these talent shows.

Bet365 is one of the first to post odds on the final 12 and has got rocker, Chris Daughtry as 5/2 favourite. Interesting, since Chris has yet to prove his worth on the non-rock genres - although its clear that right now his vocals are radio-friendly.

Second favourite is the odd but musically endearing Taylor Hicks at 9/2. He's the kind of contestant, with his strange ticks and body movements that is likely to split the viewers down the centre. You either love him or hate him. Again, it'll be interesting to see how well he can apply his routine to other genres.

Looking through the field, pretty boy Ace Young is at a tempting 13/2. Now whilst his singing ability is not synonymous with his name and he does way too many weak falsettos his jake gyllenhal-type movie star looks is definitely giving him an audience - and right now, seemingly for that reason alone - the judges are still on his side.

Of the young'un's, chicken little impersonator, Kevin Covais is languishing as the 50/1 outsider, whilst early hopefull, Paris Bennet who showed good promise in the auditions has given more lacklustre performances recently and is at 10/1
