America's two biggest casino cities, Las Vegas, and its far smaller sibling, Atlantic City, offer much more than just casino gambling, and the competition between the cities is heating up.

Prizefighting went from a "Friday night fights" on TV situation, to a cable TV special event, to pay-per-view status, and now, boxing s fighting to stay alive with sports fans.

From the time I was a kid until I was a young adult everyone got to see boxers such as Rocky Marciano, Sugar Ray Robinson, Ingemar Johansson, Floyd Patterson, carmine Basilio, and of course, Muhammad Ali, for free, on regular TV.

These days fighters of that caliber would command pay days so big that you would have to pay an exorbitant fee to watch them on Pay-Per-View.

Of course the ultimate way to see a fight is to attend it in person and the top venue for these events has shifted from New York City to Las Vegas and back again, and then to Vegas again.

But, Atlantic City has also hosted many major prize fights, and it appears that it is ready to do battle with Las Vegas for the prizefighting championship of America.
