Gambling and the Law
by jim on January 11, 2008

It's rough being a smoker these days.
Little by little we're becoming persona-non-grata in more and more places, even in some public outdoor areas.
Here in Las Vegas, where a new anti-smoking law went into effect last year, there's a running gun battle going on between bar and small casino owners and the law about what is and what isn't legal.
As a result many bar owners have set up completely separate areas for food service where smoking is now illegal.
In Australia, where, as in many other countries, the same type of laws are going into effect, the Star City Casino is planning to add an outdoor gambling area to accommodate its tobacco loving customers. They plan to set aside an area outside for non-smokers who have achieved "Gold" club status with the casino.
Then, someone will file a lawsuit demanding a non-smoking area outdoors for customers who have not established "Gold" status.
Oh wait that would happen in the U.S. wouldn't it?
Here's the story about the proposed outdoor smoker's slot machine area at the Star City Casino.
