Never say an Aussie doesn't like a flutter – they spend on average AUS$17 per person every week on gambling – spending $17.4 billion in the past year alone and more than they spend per person on gas.
The spend represents a 5.5% year-on-year increase, compared to just a 3.3% increase in household consumption.
The breakdown shows that whilst they love their poker machines, lotto and casino, they only spend $2 per week on the horses – but thats still not bad for a country that will gamble on anything
