Betbug and Gamebookers Buy Basketball Player

Betbug.com, the world's first true person-to-person betting network, along with their partner, gamebookers, have purchased basketball star, Vladimir Petrovic of Greek League 1 basketball team Aris.

In a first of its kind deal, Gamebookers will pay Petrovic's wages and due to its huge success, BetBug.com are looking to follow suit and are actively searching to replicate this deal in the US. They're currently in talks with the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL.

This could bring in a new trend in sports sponsorship whereby individual players actually get paid by their sponsor. Ultimately, it could allow smaller, less heavily-financed teams an opportunity to acquire more expensive players - whatever happens, its an interesting development
