When two men attempted to claim on the same lottery ticket, california lottery officials resorted to checking surveillance tapes to find the winner. The first man to claim the $530,000 prize could not answer the basic questions put to all big winners such as where he bought the ticket or whether he chose the numbers himself or used 'quick pick'. When the identity of winners is suspect, it is routine practice for lottery officials to check the surveillance tapes of stores where the tickets were sold. At the moment, the initial claimant is being given the benefit of the doubt.
