
While Bingo remains popular in the United States and most of Europe it is no longer the favorite form of gambling in Canada.
Due to the decline in bingo revenues the Canadian Government authorized the placement of slot machines in the bingo halls.
Their deployment was done slowly and without much fanfare, almost surreptitiously, by a company called "Chances" and the halls themselves were renamed "Community Gaming Centres".
