Casino refuses to pay millions for slots 'win'

Jayshree Asalan, a South African attorney and gambler, intends to sue the Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World for the R42,9-million she claims is hers. Asalan was playing on one of their slot machines when, according to the casino, the machine broke down and recorded a 'win' not due to her.
Ken Ladbrooke, acting chief executive of the KwaZulu-Natal Gambling Board, explained events to a Sunday Newspaper:
"There were 1 000 credits left on the machine and, as it is a 50c slot, that equates to R500 cash. The ladywanted to clear her money and she was paid out the R500. She then put R100 into the machine and placed her bet. However, before the bet was run, the machine jammed. That's when it came up that there was a win of R42.9 million."
Asalan was refunded her R100 but unsurprisingly feels cheated out of her win. Investigations have shown that things appeared to be wrong with the machine including flashing malfunction lights. More convincingly, there is no payout combination on that machine that equates to a R42.9 million win.
