Doyle's Room in Trouble?
Filed in archive Poker on February 17, 2007
Tribeca Tables, the online network that provides the skin for Doyle's Room and other online poker sites, announced this week that it would withdraw from the US market as of February 28th, and US player IP addresses would be blocked at that time.
Tribeca hosts a number of poker sites, but Doyle's Room has by far the largest US presence, being the brainchild of the 10-time WSOP champion Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson. Doyle, his son Todd and "Crazy" Mike Caro often participate in bounty tournaments on the site where special prizes are awarded to players who can take them out.
The announcement by Tribeca has been anticipated for some time, and sites including Doyle's Room have been working on other developing or acquiring other software platforms to run on. No word has been released by Doyle's Room as to what the status is there, but their statement has been that they do intend to remain open to US players after February 28th, with no interruption in service.
Other poker sites on the Tribeca networks include Platinum Poker, BetUS Poker, GoldenPalace.com and the new StraightFlush.com Poker. No word is available on the plans of these sites regarding US players. As is normal with these UIGEA-inspired shutdowns, players outside the US are not affected and will continue to be able to play on Tribeca sites with no problem.
