FBI gives basketball players gambling warning
Filed in archive Gambling General on March 25, 2006

The FBI has had a word with basketball players about the dangers of sports gambling, especially when it comes to betting on their own games. A survey of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and gambling taken 3 years ago found that almost 30% of its first division (male) athletes bet on sports with 2% having been asked to throw a game. The point of the FBI talk, given to the West Virginia Mountaineers before a practice session, was to make it clear to the basketballers that gambling on their sport could end up ruining their lives.
