Online sports books bodog.com, Pinnacle Sports and 1800-sports.com all had the Florida Gators as a 7-point underdog and the over/under at a fairly sedate 46 points. Florida nearly shattered that line all on their own in their 41-24 rout of the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes to claim their first BCS championship trophy. After a kickoff return for a touchdown put OSU ahead 7-0 16 seconds into the game, the Buckeyes offense sputtered and was unable to get untracked for the rest of the game.
Senior Quarterback Chris Leak completed 25 of 36 passes for over 200 yards for the Florida Gators to cap a season that saw plenty of doubt about his role in the offense after coach Urban Meyer brought in freshman Tim Tebow to share time under center with Leak. Buckeyes quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith looked confused and uncomfortable all night as Florida's defense harassed him and sacked him 6 times.
I'm happy to say that I took the over and the Florida Gators to beat the spread, 'cause I had plenty of faith in my hometown boy Leak to make up for my NFL losing bets from the weekend. But really, who wouldn't bet the over on Indy/KC?!?
