Floridians Take 12 Million Gambling Trips a Year

The Sunshine State may live up to its name for its climate and the LURE of Disney, but for those that live there, the lights of the casino is much more alluring.

Florida is now 5th in the US for the most number of gambling trips made per year – 12 million mainly out of State. Florida was 11th last year. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Vegas made the most trips.

Other facts and figures from surveys by the National Profile Study and the U.S. Gaming Pool include:
- 25% of people gambled at a casino in the year
- 322 million trips were made – on average 6.1 trips per person
- household income of a casino gambler is $8000 more than the average (median score)
- casino players tend to be more likely to go into further education and have a white collar job
- age and gender of casino gamblers are almost identical to the average population (median score)
