
After a marathon final table that stretched well past sunrise on the east coast, Freddy Deeb nabbed his second bracelet in the $50,000 HORSE tournament at the World Series of Poker. Deeb outlasted Amnon Filippi, Barry Greenstein and a host of other tough final table players to take down the custom-made Curom bracelet, which features 91 black diamonds. Deeb received $2.3 million for his win, the largest prize by far at the World Series of Poker so far this year.
The field of 148 players included the biggest names in poker including Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, David singer and TJ Cloutier. All those men were at the final table last year, when David "Chip" Reese won the inaugural event. Singer would emerge as the only man to make back-to-back final tables in the event, finishing in 6th place both years. Other notables in the field included Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Mike Matusow. The event lasted 5 days this year. compared to three in 2006, and the final table still took better than 17 hours to play out!
