
nevada recovered from a slower June to post year-on-year gambling increases in July of 8.4%. Gaming win for the state went about the $1 billion mark to $1.04 billion. Vegas saw an increase of 10% to $531 million of that total.
Visitors taking advantage of the long 4-day weekend for July 4 and a big boxing event were cited as one of the major reasons for the increase and went against fears of a slow-down because of rising fuel prices in the US.
Casinos that cater to Las Vegas residents also reported strong revenue gains, with North Las Vegas up 11.1 percent and the Boulder Strip up 16.1 percent.
