Gamblers use funerals to run card game operations in SingaporeAlways in for the quick buck, the latest ruse in Singapore is to offer money to grieving relatives to allow gambling at the funeral
crime syndicate "runners'' check newspaper obituary pages for funerals and obtain permission from bereaved families to gamble there


Chinese funerals often last a week and card games can often be seen amongst the mourners. The family is offered $300sg for the opportunity whilst the 'runners' are offered $100sg.

Nine men were recently arrested for gambling at a wake and face fines or jail if convicted
