German football has been caught up in a huge scandal after a referee admitted fixing Matches
In a report on Sky Online, German referee Robert Hoyzer admitted accepting large amounts of money to influence the match's outcomes
News of the scandal broke on Saturday evening when it was announced that Hoyzer was under suspicion of rigging Hamburg SV's Cup defeat by Paderborn SC last August after betting on the result…. Hamburg took a 2-0 lead but went on to lose 4-2 after Hoyzer sent off striker Emile Mpenza in the first half for insulting him and awarded two penalties to the regional league side.
Hoyzer has also retracted his initial statement that he didn't bet on matches and admitted he made 5-figure sums and also claimed other people within football are involved
