Tony Blair's government have been accused of dipping their fingers into lottery money, kept aside for good causes, to raise funds for controversial wind farms. The money went to a Danish energy giant which is in the process of being taken over by the Danish state. The grant will go towards building wind farms offshore in Liverpool Bay.
Feathers have been ruffled by the use of lottery money for this project. Considerable sums have already been raised through taxes for renewable energy spending and opposition politicians have questioned the wisdom of British lottery funds going to foreign businesses.
