Gus Hansen Wins Aussie Millions!

Gus Hansen came to the final table just barely behind Jimmy Fricke in the chip counts at $4.84 million to Fricke's $5.17M, and after eight hours of final table action, overcame Fricke's huge heads-up chip lead to take the crown. Hansen was a heavy favorite to win the event going into the final based on his experience and playing style. Other final table competitors including Andy Black and Kristy Gazes.
Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke has burst onto the live tournament scene this winter, with a strong showing at the Pokerstars Carribean Adventure at the beginning of January, and now a second place finish here. The 19-year-old from Illinois will have to wait a few years to compete in US-based tournaments, but his recent cashes certainly give him plenty of capital to work on European and other worldwide events.
Hansen is one of the most popular players in tournament poker and is a member of the elite Team Full Tilt, sponsored by Full Tilt Poker. His sometimes reckless-seeming style has enchanted World Poker Tour viewers since the inception of the program, but his "crazy" moves on television are belied by the reputation Hansen has among pros as a canny, crafty player. Coming into the heads-up portion of the match against Fricke, Hansen felt that he could "gamble a little," and his gambles certainly paid off.
