Has Costa Rica Become the Offshore Vegas?

If online casino betting tends to be spread across the globe in offshore hubs such as Gibraltar, Aldernay, Antigua
and the Isle of Mann, online sportsbook are finding a home in Costa Rica - over 200 companies have swarmed there so far.Betonsports.com alone can take 60,000 bets on an NFL Sunday - they took 100,000 bets on a Monday night game. They currently have their HQ in Costa Rica but would go to the US in an instant if it ever became legal.
But at the same time, they don't believe what they're doing is against the law;
They're also out of reach of U.S. authorities, who say companies like BETonSPORTS.com are in violation of the U.S. Wire Act by taking bets online illegally.
Not everyone agrees.
"I say I'm not," says David Carruthers, BETonSPORTS.com's CEO. "If I was doing this in the United States, it would be illegal. But I'm not. I'm doing it here in Costa Rica."
Well, he has a valid point
