In reality, Hold'em has sprung up from nowhere - it was barely played until TV and Internet caught onto it
But what about the other poker games out there?
When you go into any online poker room, there's always a few other games available - albeit with less rooms and less players.
A couple of the 'secondary' games out there are Omaha Hi-Lo and Seven Card Stud.
I'll start with the basics on omaha hi-loUnlike most variations, hi-lo depends on the lowest cards in your hand as well as the highest cards.
Like Hold'em, the players post blinds to start.
Each player is dealt 4 pocket cards and the first round of betting begins.
The dealer then deals the flop - 3 community cards - as with hold'em, with a round of betting between the flop, Turn and River cards
The players must for the best hand from 2 of their pocket cards and 3 community cards - the winners are the players with the best high and the best low hands. (of course, this can be just one player holding both hands)
