Slot machines are proliferating throughout the country despite the many attempts being made by a small, but very vocal minority that wants to save people from themselves, by prohibiting slot machines.
The protests against slot machines are usually brought by "religious" people who claim that people are becoming addicted to them, as you can see in this article about a rally against slot machines.
These protesters would have one believe that slot machines have minds of their own. Slot machines do not possess some magical power that enables them to send commands that penetrate people's minds and turn them into crazed gambling fanatics.
My opinion is that anyone can become addicted to anything including religion. It's up to each individual to know his or her limits and to control themselves accordingly.
Aside from providing entertainment for adults, who should be allowed to decide how and where they will spend their free time and discretionary income, they provide casino employment opportunities.
