Bets off as actor backed for Bond
If betting volume was anything to go by, then actor Colin Salmon, who's played M's right hand man in the last 3 Bond movies, is going to be the new James Bond.
Ladbrokes reported unusual betting volume on the actor yesterday with 6 500GBP bets on Salmon to take the much-vaunted role. Ladbrokes closed their book immediately after.
Rival bookies, William Hill, refuted the rumours – claiming they hadn't taken any similar bet and put it down as a stunt to build Salmon's profile. However, they have shortened his odds since the news spread.
The next James Bond has always been a closely-guarded secret since Pierce Brosnan announced he wouldn't be playing the Secret Agent in another movie. Other candidates for the role include Ewan McGregor, Dougray Scott and Eric Bana
