Casinos
by simon on May 7, 2006

While the Chinese are busy with their project to stamp out gambling in their country, their Japanese neighbours are relaxing their gaming laws still further. I mentioned in a previous post that Japan was contemplating using casinos to boost their economy, now they're considering permitting online casinos as well.
Japanese relaxation of gambling laws may see a liberalising of attitudes towards gaming across the Far East. However, China remains the yang to Japan's ying by reacting to gambling and gamblers with extreme prejudice. Perhaps the anti-gambling movement in the West should wave Chinese flags on their demonstrations.
