He may not be walking on water but Chris "jesus" Ferguson was turning miracles in the World Series in Vegas this week.
In two separate hands, Ferguson turned a short stack into enough chips to continue marching forward.
In one hand, despite holding pocket kings, Ferguson's opponent had 2 pairs after the flop – but the river turned a second 4 on the table giving Ferguson the higher 2-pairs doubling his 40,000 all-in to 84,000 chips.
"I've been all-in with the worst hand and won both times," said Ferguson, who won the World Series main event in 2000. "I'm willing to get my money in on a coin flip." Both times, he acknowledged, his odds were worse than 50-50.
This week has seen a number of well-known players succumb to the huge event, including Men Nguyen and Barry Greenstein. The main event begins August 10.
