Las Vegas Professor Wants Internet Gambling Legalized
Filed in archive Online Gambling on July 29, 2008

University Of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), associate professor, Kathryn LaTour has come out in favor of legalized Internet gambling for adult Americans.
Although her thinking is sound it is somewhat of a surprise here in Las Vegas that anyone who conducts a public forum would endorse anything that may present competition to the bricks and mortar casinos.
Personally I feel that too much protectionism, to the detriment of its citizens, is afforded the casino moguls by Nevada's elected officials at all levels of government.
While it's true, to a large degree, that the gaming industry is Nevada's most important cash cow there is no justification to deny adult citizens their rights.
A perfect case in point is the continued refusal by the state legislature to allow a State Lottery in Nevada. The funds that would be generated by a Lottery are desperately needed and lottery players, such as me, simply go to California or Arizona to buy tickets.
So the State loses money that wouldn't be wagered in Las Vegas casinos anyway and we all waste gas driving out of state.
Here's what professor Kathryn LaTour has to say about Internet gambling.
