The luxor Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is holding a Rock Paper Scissors tournament next month. Around 300 participants from all over the US are thought to be journeying to Las Vegas to take part. The winner will walk away with $50,000.

The rules of the game are the same as those played all over the world. However, most people play simply to pass the time or resolve simple arguments. Players count to three and reveal either a flat palm (representing 'paper') a fist with two extended fingers (scissors) or a fist (stone).

Stone beats scissors – stone blunts scissors

Scissors beats paper – scissors cut paper

Tactics Analysis has shown that players typically play scissors first, so you should play stone. Their second choice is to play stone (although a repeat of scissors is quite common) so you should play stone and either draw or take another point.
