Gambling In Europe
by jim on January 21, 2008

In America we're loaded with people who are always trying to control the lives of others by protesting anything they don't like on the grounds that it violates their own version of morality.
There are other countries with similar problems, but for the most part adults in the rest of the world, except for the most restrictive of societies, possess a live and let live attitude.
However, when dealing minors, very few societies knowingly allow them to engage in adult activities. Of course the age at which an individual is considered to attained adulthood varies from country to country.
In Finland, a country comprised of fairly liberal minded people, certain forms of gambling is legal for persons 15 years of age.
They are allowed to play slot machines, lotto and toto but there's a move afoot to raise the minimum age to 18.
It should be interesting to see how that works out.
Finland is a country I hope to visit someday, at least before the Finnish government enacts a law prohibiting people over a certain from gambling.
In the meantime check out this website with addition information about casino and online gambling in Finland and other Scandinavian countries is a link to a page on the World Wide Web.
