Nevada and Atlantic City Continues to Rake in Casino Revenues

Both Atlantic City and Nevada have shown huge increases in revenues.

Atlantic showed a 9% increase in September, compared to the same time last year. Winnings totalled $468.8 million – split between slots and tables. Slots increased 8.2% to $343.9 million, whilst table games saw an increase of 11.8%to $124.9 million.

For the first 9 months of the year, the 12 casinos which make up the East Coast's Strip saw $4 billion in casino revenues – up nearly 5%

On the West side of the country, Nevada is also showing record numbers. $1.06 billion was won in August – its highest ever for the month. This was a 7.5% increase from 2005. The Las Vegas strip saw a 14.3% increase – largely due to big wins in baccarat. However, downtown Vegas followed its recent losses and was down for the 3rd month running.

A breakdown of the win showed that slots accounted for about $726.1 million of the total. That included $307 million won by multidenomination slots, up 19 percent. Penny slots were second with a win of $118 million, up 37 percent.

The board said live games, including poker, accounted for the $337 million balance of total. That included $105.5 million won on blackjack tables, up 7.7 percent; $33.7 million on craps tables, up 13.6 percent; $29 million on roulette, up 10.9 percent; and $3.5 million on sports pools, down 42 percent. Poker games won $13.8 million, up 17.7 percent.
