New York - 11 arrested in sports gamble ring

Operation Kings Flush a 16 month investigation into illegal gambling has snared 11 people and thousands of dollars in cash and equipment in raids this weekend. Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said that the raiders concentrated their efforts on members of Brooklyn's Califano crime family

Hayes said that sports gambling was so pervasive in New York that people would bet on "cockroaches running across the Floor". He also said that some forms of gambling should be legalised. Why not open stores in New York that people can walk in and bet on sports? All you need is a load of televisions, slips of paper and some tiny pens.
