No $200,000 Jackpot for Nickel Game Winners

A Winnepeg casino has refused to pay out a jackpot of $209,000 that 2 men won on a keno game. The casino claims the software malfunctioned. The 2 men are currently looking into legal action against the casino.

The jackpot came up when 5 numbers were matched on a keno nickel game. Most nickel games pay no more than about $3000 but the men are claiming the machine was showing messages that matching all numbers would win more than 4 million nickels. There seems to be no dispute that this was the result shown on the screen.

There are currently ongoing investigations as to whether there were any software errors – there have been regular maintenance and software updates.

This type of malfunction is very rare and it's unfortunate that the machine was being played and it malfunctioned like it did," said Susan Olynik, a vice-president with the corporation
