The possibility of introducing a consolation race for the Grand National at some time in the future has been ruled out. Aintree officials were thinking of staging a race for horses who miss the cut.
There has been a full field for the past few years and horses are being balloted out. If the numbers out are high enough then there is a chance a consolation race will be staged. However, this race will not be happening any time soon.
Going to have a bet on Saturday?
Well, probably. If you do have a bet, then either put your money on clan Royal but remember most serious punters give the National a miss.
