Now its AOL Blackjack

The last bastion of gambling-free America on the Internet has finally fallen. For years, AOL stood steadfastly against offering gambling to their players - albeit free gambling.

However, following their foray a while back into current game-of-the-moment poker, for which they partnered with World Series of Poker, AOL have now announced the creation of a dedicated blackjack channel - again with the World Series Group.

AOL have always offered blackjack - as well as a bunch of other gambling games. But it appears they deem blackjack priority enough to have its very own section - not bad for a game that basically pits the player against the dealer to be the closest to '21' without busting

In the blackjack channel, blackjack buffs, who for whatever reason, prefer to play the card game for no money, can play 24 hours a day, get tips from blackjack pros (strategy tables are obviously too difficult to understand for AOL users) and watch clips from the World Series of Blackjack (there is one? Or maybe thats the point of the channel - to promote the World Series of Blackjack. Or am I just being a cynic here?)

Either AOL have finally realised that people gamble in the real world - or they are biding their time and building a series of gambling games that sooner or later they may actually switch to real money play - and watch their revenues soar with those nasty gambling profits
