Internet gambling is flourishing in South Korea even though it is illegal.
Asians love gambling. I know that to be a fact because here in Las Vegas we have a large Asian population that gambles and works in the casino industry.
But even more telling are the huge numbers of visitors from all Asian countries who come here to gamble even though they know have Macau close by. The reason for this is because they want to experience gambling of all types in different ways and places.
This love of gambling extends to online gambling which, for the most part, is illegal in many Asian countries, including South Korea.
Because of this illegal Internet gaming operations have emerged for South Korean gamblers and, unfortunately, many of them are nothing more than rip-off sites.

I still contend that adults should be allowed to do as they please with their discretionary income. One has to wonder if the South Korean government will legalize and tax online gambling so the criminals will be driven out and everyone can benefit from this new economy.
One also has to wonder if, because of its close ties to the United States, South Korea isn't being discouraged from allowing legalized Internet gambling.
