I don't think it comes as much of a surprise to note that online poker is booming as an internet business
Tech Startups points to a marketwatch article that reports that online poker is inline to generate revenues of almost $3 billion - according to online poker tracking site, pokerpulse.com with much of the revenue coming from the house take - often 3 to 5% of the pot
These are the kind of numbers that were bandied around during the online casino boom a few years back. Poker has a proven and fixed revenue stream that online casinos often have trouble maintaining. But similar to online casinos, its likely the online poker industry will consolidate over the next couple of years as the biggest sites such as partypoker.com continue to grow whilst the smaller sites will fight to attract new players and retain them
