Poker Student Wins $1.3 Million

Its not a bad way for a student to make a living. And becoming a millionaire at your first major poker tournament at the age of 22 isn't that bad either.

Steve Paul-Ambrose is a business and science major in Canada and spends his spare time playing online poker – thats 3 to 4 hours a night playing 8 games at a time. He won a seat at a tournament with an $8000entry fee after winning a series of online games and beat 700 other players to capture the top prize – and a $25,000 seat at the World Poker Tour championship in Vegas.

They go and play maybe three and four hours a day and it's really intense because they're calculating everything, they have all the figures and the odds worked out. It's not just like they're fooling around."

The partners play after classes, tackling eight games at a time on two large computer screens.

The two, who taught themselves to play poker two years ago, calculate every move they make; they even have spreadsheets to track wins and losses.

I bet he can't wait to file his first major tax bill either

    I think that poker games are now becoming mind-boggling because it has become more than luck for most players.
