Tournament Poker strategy is quite different from that employed during a friendly game at home or when playing in a casino.
Bear in mind that the advice given in the article regarding "short stacks", as is the case with any strategy, has to be used in conjunction with an appraisal of your opponent's abilities and apparent strategy.
Being able to "read" your opponents is trial and error, but like most things, your ability to do it will improve over time.
Check out this enlightening article about Texas Hold Em' Poker and improve your play.
