SC Casino Boats headed for stormy weather?
Filed in archive Casinos on April 5, 2007
Another blow to embattled gamblers in South Carolina landed this week as the Horry county council voted 7-5 in favor of pursuing a ban on casino cruises in the area. The Myrtle Beach Sun News reports "The council voted 7-5 to abandon taxing the floating casinos and instead pursue barring them from the area, which it is allowed to do under state law.
"A final vote on the ban and a public hearing is scheduled for the council's May 1 meeting."
There are currently several operators of these casino cruises in South Carolina, but this is yet another blow to gamblers in the state, who have in the past several years seen video poker machines outlawed and increasing raids on home and underground poker games.
