It is beyond belief to this New Jersey/New York boy that the three predominant northeastern Thoroughbred racetracks could have become nothing more than a memory.
I never did make it to The Belmont when I lived near enough because it was shut down due to a catastrophic fire; I did however make substantial donations at the pari-mutuel windows of the other two.
Here's the story about how these three premier and historic
thoroughbred racetracks barely escaped extinction.
