
The South African gambling industry raked in nearly 10 billion rand over the last year – including horse racing, casinos, bingo and limited-payout machines. This showed a 22% increase on the previous 12 months.
the breakdown shows that casinos account for almost 88% of the total revenue (R8.7bn), horse racing at 12%, bingo at 0.2% and limited-payout machines at 0.3% of gross gambling revenue
Noticeably, it was the limited-payout machines that made the most significant increases, despite not being available for the full 12 months in most provinces
