Good news for UK casino sites - the European Union says it wants to remove restrictions other member states place on online gambling.
According to new reports, the European Commission will censure France, Greece and Sweden this week for restrictions they have placed specifically on sports gambling. However the challenge by the European Union will also affect online casino sites.
If the sanctions are imposed based on unfair competition law then UK online casino sites could target new countries previously restricted to their own nation's sites.
Conversely, British players would have the option of playing on sites from these countries. Industry members in the UK have praised the efforts of the EU as removing barriers to fair competition could have a huge benefit for companies here.
