Casino manufacturer, Shuffle master, have acquired a pair of RFID patents that will allow them to design a system to insert "radio frequency identification (RFID)" technology into casino chips. This will allow them to track the chips throughout the casino.

By adding RFID-enabled chips to an "intelligent table system," which can monitor exact betting behavior, casinos will get a detailed view of how customers gamble. Better yet, it will allow casinos to track such information for just about any gambler, not just the high rollers. In addition to helping casinos build reward programs designed to keep their best customers coming back, it should also keep the crooks at bay---say, by keeping counterfeit chips off the floor
