WSOP 2007 Schedule Announced!

Harrah's has announced the schedule for the 2007 World Series of Poker, with more mixed games at different buy-in levels and less Hold 'Em! Click here for the full schedule…

Back by popular demand is the $50,000 HORSE event, now a five-day tournament instead of three. For those of us who want to play a World Series HORSE event but can't pony up that kind of money, Harrah's has also added a $5,000 and $2,500 HORSE event, as well as a $1,000 SHOE (Stud, Hold Em, Omaha, Stud Hi/lo) for the cheapskate Razz-haters out there.

The World Series Main Event $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold Em event is scheduled to begin July 6th, with three Day 1 flights designed to accommodate up to 3,000 people each day. In 2006, 8,773 players vied for the $12 Million first prize eventually taken down by Jamie Gold. Someday he may get to actually spend it…

In a concession to real poker players, the World Series this year features many more non-Hold Em tournaments, including a return of the $5,000 rebuy 2-7 Triple Draw Championship, a $5,000 mixed Limit/No Limit Hold Em event, a $2,500 Stud/Omaha Hi/Lo mixed event and a $5,000 heads-up bracelet event. All told, 55 bracelets will be awarded this year, a significant increase from the 46 awarded in 2006.

"The 2007 schedule offers something for everyone," said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker. "As part of our commitment to innovate for the benefit of all players, we've added nine bracelet events and created more opportunities for both amateurs and professionals to win poker's most coveted prize."

For the third year, the World Series of Poker will be held at the Rio in Las Vegas. It moved to the Rio in 2005 after the acquisition by Harrah's and it's amazing growth made the original location downtown at Binion's less feasible. The events will kick off on June 1st with a Mixed Hold Em tournament and culminate with the final table of the Main Event six weeks later on July 17th. How many events will you play this year?
