Wynn Puts a Hole in a $139 Million Picasso
Filed in archive Casinos on October 17, 2006
Casino owner Steve Wynn was having one of those days.
He'd just sold a Picasso for $139 million to fellow collector Steven Cohen - a hefty $90 million more than he paid in 1997, when he was showing the piece 'La Reve' to some people in his office at the Wynn Casino in Vegas. Wynn, who suffers retinitis pigmentosa - which affects his peripheral vision - suddenly stuck his elbow into the masterpiece and left a hole the size of silver dollar (thats pretty big).
Unsurprisingly, that put a stop to the agreed sale - and Wynn has said he'll keep and restore the Picasso
And how was your day?
